Edith M. Richards

DOVER - Edith M. Richards, of Dover, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. She was 99. Mrs. Richards was born May 15, 1912, in Henry County, Ind., to the late Ora M. Bohannon and Nora B. Shaw Bohannon. She was a nurse for Wilmington General Hospital, then for the V.N.A in Wilmington until 1939. Mrs. Richards lived in Newark area for over 40 years moving to Westminster Village in 1993. She was a member of the Red Lion Evangelical Free Church for years, and more recently was a member of Alliance Family Fellowship in Dover. Mrs. Richards was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan and volunteered for the Read Aloud program and Westminster Care program. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Richards, 1992; her daughter, Nan Allison Richards, 1966; and her five brothers and sister. She is survived by her son, Robert W. Richards Jr. of Truckee, Calif.; granddaughter, Kathryn Nan Richards Chiarella of Seattle, Wash.; step-granddaughter, Alissa Boland of Dana Point, Calif.; and great-granddaughter, Quinn Boland. Memorial services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Westminster Village Community Center, 191 Westminster Drive, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Alliance Family Fellowship, PO Box 1978, Dover, DE 19904.
