SEAFORD - Edith H. Irwin of Seaford died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, in Seaford Retirement and Rehabilitation Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Irwin was born Nov. 5, 1927, in Schenectady, N.Y., daughter of the late Edward and Edith Price Vogel.

She was a graduate of Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky.

Mrs. Irwin was an elementary school teacher many years ago.

As a minister's wife, she and her husband served many charges in Delaware and Maryland including Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro, Newark United Methodist Church in Newark, Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville, Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Seaford, Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel, and Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge, Md.

Mrs. Irwin was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also very active in the area of missions in Methodist church.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, the Rev. John A. Irwin; three sons and three daughters-in-law, John L. and Lynne Irwin of Laurel, Mark E. and Melanie Irwin of Sykesville, Md., and Andrew J. and Sally Irwin of Salisbury, Md.; and four grandchildren, John T. Irwin, Seth Irwin, Sean Irwin and Jessica Irwin.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Centenary United Methodist Church, Laurel, where friends may call two hours earlier. The Revs. John Van Tine and Fred Duncan will officiate.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Centenary United Methodist Church, 200 W. Market St., Laurel, DE 19956.
