MILLINGTON, Md. - Earl C. "Butch" Bottomley, 88, of Millington, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, in Chester River Hospital. Butch was born on May 20, 1922, in Millington, he was the youngest of 14 children of Harry and Agnes Pinion Bottomley. He worked for Delmarva Power for 36 years, retiring in 1983 as a troubleshooter. A World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Iceland for 2 years. He was a life member of VFW Post 652 in Millington and the American Legion in Millington and Chestertown. Butch enjoyed hunting, crabbing and bowling. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Kathryn "Kitty" Seward Bottomley in 2009. Mr. Bottomley is survived by six children, Kevin P. Bottomley of Millington, Ron Teat of Elkton, Sherri Szczechura of Dover, Del., Cindy McClain of Millington, Luke O'Brien and Sandy Teat, both of Dover; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a special beloved sister, Mary Pearson of Millington; and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. Burial in Asbury Cemetery, Millington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Millington Vol. Fire Co.; or Sudlersville Vol. Fire Co, in c/o the funeral home. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com
