CHESTERTOWN, Md. - E. "Betty" Jacobs, 93 of Rock Hall, passed away January 7, 2016 in Shore Nursing & Rehab Center, Chestertown, Md. Mrs. Jacobs was born on December 25, 1922, daughter of the late Charles B. and Helen Sutton Shriley. Betty was a lifetime resident of Rock Hall where she was valedictorian of her class in 1939, married and raised her family. She was a devoted member of Wesley Chapel and enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, watching the Orioles and Ravens and spending time with her family. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George Preston Jacobs, Sr. in 1996; a sister, Edna Nordhoff; and a brother, Frank Shriley. Betty is survived by her children, Nancy Unruh of Chestertown, George Preston Jacobs, Jr. (Sherrie) of Chestertown, Delegate Jay Jacobs (Dawn) of Rock Hall, Gary Jacobs (Lori) and Beverly Nickerson (Dickie) all of Chestertown; her sisters-in-law and best friend, Mary Ellen Thompson and Thelma Shriley; seven grandchildren, Lori Bunts, Amy Stokes, Jason Jacobs, Jeremy Jacobs, Anna Jacobs, Jaye Alexis Owings and Emmie Nickerson; step-granddaughter, Karen Unruh; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Charlie, Aleea, Jason, Bryce, Aerianna and Aubrey. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Wesley Chapel, 6065 Rock Hall Rd., Rock Hall, Md., where memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Memorials may be offered to Wesley Chapel Church or Wesley Cemetery Fund.
