Dr. William H. 'Doc' Boyer, 83
MAGNOLIA - Dr. William H. "Doc" Boyer of Magnolia died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 83.
Mr. Boyer was born in Hamilton, Canada, son of the late Rueben and Ann (Crawford) Boyer.
He attended grade school and high school in Wilmington.
In 1943, Mr. Boyer joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. During World War II he served one year in Canada and two years in England.
Upon his discharge, he furthered his education in Canada and graduated for the Guelph Veterinary College in 1951.
Mr. Boyer returned to Delaware and worked for 10 years with the state before going into private practice, specializing in horses for the harness racing industry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Alexander W. Boyer.
He is survived by his wife, Helen D. Boyer of Magnolia; four daughters, Christine A. Caudle of Lubbock, Texas, Dr. Karen S. Cunningham of Manassas, Va., Catherine L. Howard of Dover and Lynn Gedney of Wyoming; two brothers, Nolan Boyer and Rodney Boyer, both of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday in the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be private.
