Rev. Dr. Ernest Conner Sr., 66

DOVER - Reverend Dr. Ernest Conner Sr., passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in Kent General Hospital. He was 66. He was born June 28, 1942 in Garfield, Ga., to Willie and Josie Conner. At a very young age, Reverend Dr. Conner moved to Florida where he spent most of his childhood. He attended Gilford High School in Gilford, Fla. He also received an Honorary Doctor's Degree from United Bible College and Seminary of Orlando, Fla. and a Bachelor of Theology in 2001. Reverend Dr. Conner had many jobs, which included Teal Construction Company, Apex Steel Company, and R-Rite Rubbish Company. He started his Christian journey at an early age while attending Solid Rock Baptist Church, Dover. His religious journey led him to build his own church, Victory Crusade Revival Church on Walker Road in Dover. He began to ministry in 1970 and was a pastor for 40 years. He leaves to cherish his loving memories his beloved wife, Bernice; four sons and their wives, Willie and Lori Conner of Magnolia, Joseph and Kim Conner of Milford, Ernest Jr., and Marshall Conner of Dover, and Timothy Conner of Dover; four brothers and four sisters-in-law, Noah and Mamie Conner of Cocoa Beach, Fla., George and Maggie Conner of Jasper, Fla., Jethro and Gail Conner of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Daniel and Lee Conner of Sebastian, Fla.; three sisters and three brothers-in law, Juanita and Charlie Warner of Mulberry, Fla., Julia Mae and Charles Jacobs of Melborne, Fla., and Sarah and Johnny MacDonald of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 883 Lincoln St., Dover, with a viewing two hours prior to the service. There will also be a viewing on Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bennie Smith's Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Dover. Letters of condolence may be sent and guestbook may be signed at www.benniesmithfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
