LEWES - Dr. James F. Connaughton Jr., M.D of Lewes died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 65.
Dr. Connaughton was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Cincinnati.
He served in the U.S. Navy in 1968 and 1969, including a tour in the U.S. Naval Hospital, Danang, Vietnam.
Dr. Connaughton was a graduate of Dartmouth College and Indiana University Medical School.
He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania and served as an assistant professor of medicine there. In 1976, he entered private medical practice in Phoenixville, Pa., where he remained until his retirement.
Dr. Connaughton was a member of the Board of Public Works, Lewes.
He is survived by his partner, Curtis Gillis; two brothers, Thomas Connaughton of Alexandria, Va., and Stephen Connaughton of Wilmette, Ill.; and his sister, Jane Allen of Kenilworth, Ill.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, in Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 2nd Street, Lewes.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown.
