Dorothy L. Ambrose

OCEAN VIEW - Dorothy L. Ambrose, of Ocean View and formerly of Wilmington and Fenwick Island died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 at Harrison House Of Georgetown. She was born in Hertford, N.C. and was the daughter of the late Herman and Margaret (Hassel) Goodman.
Dorothy was a charter member of St. Matthews By-the-Sea United Methodist Church in Fenwick Island and enjoyed quilting at the church. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed reading, golfing and painting.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth W. Ambrose of South Bethany and M. Lee Ambrose and wife Karen of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a daughter, Linda A. Townsend and husband Bud of Georgetown; six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Melvin Ambrose in 2000; and a daughter-in-law, Sonya Ambrose in 2018.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville with Rev. Bruce Miller officiating. Friends may call an hour before the service. Burial will be in St. George's Cemetery in Clarksville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Matthews By-the-Sea United Methodist Church, 1000 Coastal Hwy., Fenwick Island, DE 19944.
