Dorothy E. Gentry, 90

DOVER - Dorothy E. Gentry, of Dover, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 90.

Mrs. Gentry was born June 2, 1917, in Asheville, N.C., to the late J. Louis Everhart and Nettie Ramsen Brown Everhart.

She worked as a bookkeeper with her husband at James Gentry TV and Stereo Repair Shop.

Mrs. Gentry enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting and antiquing.

She was a member of the Century Club and the Jaycees.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Gentry Sr., in 1995; four brothers, Nels, William, Edward and James Everhart; and her sister, Florence Powell.

Mrs. Gentry is survived by her son, James H. Gentry Jr. of New Monmouth, N.J.; her daughter, Jane G. Polo of Dover; five grandchildren, Michael Polo, Delaware, Steven Polo of Connecticut, Theresa Polo of California, Edward Gentry of Tennessee and Carl Gentry of New Jersey; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Local arrangements are by Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
