Doris Marie Hibbs

LINCOLN - Doris M. Hibbs passed away at home surrounded by family members on Friday, January 16, 2015. Doris was born on September 27, 1939 in Haddonfield, New Jersey, daughter of the late George and Nettie Downey Sperbeck. Doris treasured time spent with her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed bowling and fishing. She was active as a member of the Milford Senior Center and volunteered with special activities held there, and was a member of the Slaughter Neck United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James J. Hibbs, Sr.; two sons, James J. Hibbs, Jr. and his wife Machelle of Wyandotte, Okla., and Barry D. Hibbs of Millsboro; a daughter, Cindy M. Hibbs of Newfield, N.J.; a brother, George Sperbeck and his wife Esther of Southampton, N.J.; and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, where friends may call after 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital Memorial Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105-1942, or visit www.stjude.org
