DENTON, Md. - Doris M. Butler of Denton died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, in Denton, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 83.
Mrs. Butler was born March 6, 1923, in Delmar, daughter of the late Thomas Clayton Roe and Mary Elizabeth Gravenor.
She was a graduate of Caroline High School.
Mrs. Butler met her future husband in Hobbs. She was a farmer's wife, and had driven a school bus for a while. She loved gardening and canning.
Mrs. Butler had attended Thawley's Chapel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn M. Butler; and a sister, Sarah Fountain.
Her husband of 65 years, Marvin L. Butler, and their dog, Sandy, died in the same accident.
She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Jackie M. and Carol Butler of Denton; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley Faye and Bob Willin of Federalsburg, and Madeline D. and Charlie Morris of Cordova; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Fifth and Franklin streets, Denton.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the church.
Burial will be in Denton Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Denton Ambulance Fund, 400 S. Fifth Ave., Denton, MD 21629.
