Milford – On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Donald Thomas McDonough “Mac” peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born on March 12, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Blanche (Cannon) McDonough. He was raised in Glenside, PA and then Virginia Beach, VA before moving to
He graduated from Towson High School in 1958 before receiving an Associate’s Degree from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1960. In 1962, he graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in
Mr. McDonough honorably serviced our country in the Army from 1963 to 1965, and was assigned to the 16th Artillery – 4th Armored Division, in Zirndorf, Germany, where he proudly retired as a 1st Lieutenant.
In 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Stephanie and began his career in petroleum joined Unijax/Unisource, Inc., out of Norfolk, VA. Before retiring at age 74, he finished his career working for one of his former customers, State Janitorial Supply Co, in Dover, DE. Don’s million-dollar smile won over many customers, who also became friends.
He was a member of the Milford Lions Club, St. John’s the Apostle Catholic Church and the American Legion.
More than anything, Don loved spending time with his family, including the many celebrations and family vacations. Don enjoyed golfing with his buddies Tom and Vern and loved traveling the world with his best friend, Stephanie.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Stephanie (Goode) McDonough. He is also survived by his children, Kelly Barnett and her husband Bryan, Michael T. McDonough and his partner Ulla Harlow, and Kathleen Archino and her partner Eric Williams; his grandchildren Lilly and Summer Barnett, Reilly Williamson and her husband Ricky, Sam Archino, El, Lucy and Katie Williams, and his great grandchildren Rowan and Patrick Williamson, and his many special
Mr. McDonough was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Blanche Upton, her son Kirk Upton, his brother in law William H. Goode and his cousin from across the pond, Michael “Mick” Cannon of Malahide, Ireland.
Rogers Hovatter Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford on Thursday, May 15th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave., Milford on Friday, May 16th at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be private.
