Donald R. Dixon, 82
Donald R. Dixon passed away in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021 at home in Wyoming, Del. after a brief illness.
He graduated from Smyrna High School in 1957, and served in the National Guard for 4 years. Donald was a kind, gentle man who loved talking to all people, whether he knew them or not. He was born and raised on a farm in the Clayton area, worked hard, and reached his goal, eventually owning his own farm on Underwoods Corner Rd. He assisted as a Little League Baseball Coach in both Smyrna and Camden-Wyoming. After moving to Wyoming, he worked for, and later retired from, George & Lynch in Dover. During retirement, he enjoyed trips to Nashville, Las Vegas, Atlantic City and fun times at the Harrington Casino. Donald has made countless friends along his journey through life, and he cherished them all.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Charlotte Walker. Donald was proud of his family and is also survived by his children, Kendall J. Dixon of Old New Castle, Del., Kimberly J. Minnich (Michael) of Chester Springs, Pa. and Glenn D. Dixon (Bonnie) of Millsboro, Del.; his grandchildren, Victoria Minnich, Caroline Minnich, Garrett Dixon & Jack Dixon; extended family and friends.
Donald was a member of Holy Cross Church in Dover, where he and Charlotte were married in 1959. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, December 29, 2021, 10 a.m. at the church. No public viewing.
Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
