WYOMING, Del. - Donald C. Steinert, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence and Erma Steinert. Don graduated from 6 A.R. High School in 1947 where he had excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He later served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and upon his discharge from Military Duty he became employed with the Okonite Wire and Cable Co. at the North Brunswick, N.J. location. Don served as Plant Manager and had retired after 46 years with the company. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Steinert, of Camden-Wyo.; two sons and their spouses, David and his wife Jackie, of Somerset, Mass., and Gary and his wife Kim, of Clayton; two grandchildren, Scott and Melissa; one step-grandchild, Robert; one brother, Jeff Steinert and wife Ann; and one sister, Ruth Conklin. Cremation, followed by a Memorial Service, will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in his memory be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy, Dover, DE. 19901. Life's End Services are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc. Dover, DE. Condolences and Guest Book Signings may be made via www.ambruso.com.
