Donald C. Jester, 73 HARRINGTON - Donald C. Jester, of Harrington, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 73. Mr. Jester retired from sales as a dairy product distributor. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and traveling. He also enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Harrington Business League for several decades. Mr. Jester collected Pennsylvania Railroad memorabilia, elephant figurines, and old postcards. He was a caring individual who enjoyed talking, telling jokes, and never met a stranger. He was a devoted husband and wonderful father who will be sorely missed. Mr. Jester was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church, Prospect Men's Bible Study Group, Harrington Senior Center, Greenwood Cheer Center, Andrewsville Historical Society, Harrington Historical Society where he served as Chairman of the Board, and took care of the Harrington Railroad Tower Museum, and past member of the Planning and Zoning Committee for the town of Harrington. He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Bessie Jester; a brother, Robert Jester; and granddaughter, Lori Jester. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Grace P. Jester of Harrington; sons and daughters-in-law, Willis C. and Patsy Jester of Harrington, Kreg B. and Patti Jester of Greenwood, and Glenn Hayman and Susan Welch of Harrington; brother, William Jester and his wife Donna of Dover; sister and brothers-in-law, Mary Hill Jester of Chestertown, Md., Betty Vincent of Harrington, Gayle and Donnie Melvin of Felton; mother-in-law, Phoebe Anthony of Harrington; grandchildren, Jesse Jester-Helmick, Jenna Jester, Donnie Jester, Cliff Jester, and Holly Jester; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be noon Tuesday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either the Prospect Church, P.O. Box 342, Harrington, DE 19952; or to the Harrington Historical Society, 110 Fleming Street, Harrington, DE 19952.
