Denise Lorraine (Gilmore) Brooks, 48

DOVER - Denise Lorraine (Gilmore) Brooks of Dover went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007. She was 48.

Denise was born in Dover on Aug. 6, 1959, daughter of Henry Paul Gilmore of Mississippi and Harriet Ann Gilmore of Star Hill.

She was a faithful member of Star Hill A.M.E. Church as a youth. During her adult life, she also periodically attended church services with her husband.

Denise loved the Lord.

She was educated in the Caesar Rodney School District. During that time she discovered her passion for interior design.

Denise loved being a wife and a homemaker.

Her home was always decorated for the season and ready to entertain friends. Her home always reflected the love she had for others.

Denise loved her family and expressed it often.

She had a very giving spirit and was always ready to help someone in need.

Denise gave freely without an expectation of receiving anything in return.

She was preceded in death by a stepson, Francis Brooks Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 11 years, Francis Brooks Sr.; one daughter, LaShondra Deanna Gilmore; two grandchildren, Wanyé and Nasir Williams; four stepdaughters, Robin Brooks, Pam Cintron, April Cintron and Jeanetta Brooks; two brothers, Carl Gilmore and Anthony Gilmore; one sister, Lisa Driggus-Brokenbrough; three sisters-in-law, Beverly Hawkins, Janet Hawkins and Ernestine Abrams; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
