MILFORD - David "Dave" Marvel was born on April 16, 1942, in Philadelphia. He passed away on Nov. 6, 2011, at Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 69. A veteran of the United States Navy and a Life Member of the Little Creek Fire Company, Dave was also a member of organizations pertaining to his involvement with standard bred race horses. Dave was a member of the Delaware Standard bred Owners Association and the United States Trotting Association. A retired cable splicer from Bell Atlantic/Diamond State Telephone, Dave was also active for many years in the local union, CWA Local 13101. Dave was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Pat Marvel. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda M. (Virdin) Marvel of Milford; sons, Michael (Denise) of Lincoln University, Pa., and Richard (Beth) of Harrington; and daughter, Dee Ann (Marvel) Mason (Bill) of Felton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, David, Amber, Analeesa and Michael, as well as step-grandchildren, Lisa and Becky. Dave is survived by a brother, Richard (Glenda) of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dave will be missed by the "BS Club" and his "Best Buds"- Randy, Bob, Cliff and Doc. The Family would like to extend special thanks to Rhonda and Brenda of the Cancer Center at Milford Memorial Hospital as well as the nurses from 2 West. Additionally, extra special thanks to Dr. Sandra Foote. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Trader Funeral Home, Lotus Street, Dover. Services will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. also at Trader. Dave will be buried at the Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cancer Center at Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford, DE 19963.
