David Lee Kendall, 62
HARTLY - David Lee Kendall of Hartly died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, in Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He was 62.
Mr. Kendall was born Dec. 21, 1943, in Ridgely, Md., son of Anna Mae (Walls) Kendall and the late Oliver Kendall Sr.
He served a full career in communications with the U.S. Army, and was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star and Purple Heart.
Mr. Kendall was a life member of the 25th MA-CAL Division, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of both Clayton and Milford, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart, where he served as commander of the Delaware Chapter 1787 from 1996 to 1997.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Preston Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi C. Kendall; his mother, Anna Mae Kendall of Dover; three brothers, Chief Warrent Officer Lloyd C. Kendall of Arizona, Oliver Kendall Jr. of Dover and Charles Kendall of Smyrna; three sisters and a brother- in-law, Karen Marie and Wayne Curry of Wyoming, Helen V. Kendall of Dover and LuAnn Hall of Port Ritchie, Fla.; six nieces; four nephews; nine great-nieces; and four great-nephews.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Md., where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Newman Lee-Urban VFW Post 8801, 4941 Wheatleys Pond Road, Smyrna, DE 19977.
