SMYRNA - Courtney J. "Shortney" Holtzman, of Smyrna, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 26. Courtney was born Dec. 6, 1984, in Wilmington, to Joseph Holtzman of Newark, DE and Karen Abe-Dill of Smyrna. Courtney graduated from Smyrna High School and she received her CNA at James Groves Adult Education School. She was a great mother and enjoyed loving her child and helping people. She loved her brothers and sister. She was a talented hair stylist who loved designing and doing peoples hair for them. Courtney enjoyed music and dancing and was a great friend to many and a beautiful daughter to her mother. In addition to her mother and father, she is survived by her young son, Elijah K. Holtzman; her father, William F. Breslin, who raised her; her step-father, George Dill; a sister, Stacey Holtzman, and her son, Malyki, all of Smyrna; her brothers, Tim Abe of Smyrna, and Joseph Holtzman, Jr. of Newark; her grandmother, Edna Ruth Turnbo of Newark; she is also survived by Elijahs Godfather, Andrew Spear, Godmother, Jessica Abe, and Elijahs father, Jermaine Cain; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be noon, Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
