Clifford Allen Banks, 78

SEAFORD - Clifford Allen Banks, of Seaford, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was 78.

Mr. Banks was born Aug. 21, 1928, son of the late Vaughn and Lettie (Fountain) Banks. He was the fifth of five children.

He attended Middleford School and later transferred to Seaford School District.

Mr. Banks and his brothers were entrepreneurs and gifted mechanics and equipment operators. They created Banks Brothers Garage. Years later Mr. Banks started his own trucking business, Cliff's Dump Trucks.

He retired from E.I. DuPont after 28 years of service due to a medical condition.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Mable Banks, William W. Banks, John M. Banks and Amanda (Banks) Batson.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Myrtle Banks; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Vaughn M. and Beverly Banks of Dover and Terrence L. Banks of Durham, N.C.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Lettie and Carlton Cannon, Jean and Charles Fletcher, Joan C. Banks and Carolyn F. Banks, all of Seaford; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Nichols and Ruth Matthews, both of Delmar and Margaret Matthews of Seaford; a brother-in-law, Otha Batson of Seaford; special friends, "Daddy" Brooks and "Mom" Catherine; nieces and nephews; the Middleford family ; and a host of cousins and friends.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in John Wesley United Methodist Church, Seaford.

Services will be noon Saturday in the church.

Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Seaford.

Arrangements are by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
