MILFORD - Christine F. Lundy peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.
Christine was an extraordinary woman. She loved all who knew her wholeheartedly. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, companion, colleague and friend.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Robert and Florence (Fernside) McConaghy. Later, she moved with her family to Slaughter Beach and graduated from Milford High School in 1953. She married Jack D. Strader, Sr (U.S.A.F.) from Dayton, Ohio, in 1955. Together with their children Diana, Jack, Jr. and Randall they were stationed in various areas of the United States and Europe. Christine and the children returned to Delaware after her husbands death in 1971. She met and married Richard Lundy in 1972.

Christine's ability to imagine, design, reconstruct furniture, and make window treatments was remarkable; her work graces homes from northern New York to central Virginia. She was steadfast in giving back to the community and volunteered her time, her energy and her heart to improving the lives of those in need. A life-long Democrat, Christine was always willing to engage in a debate about the latest campaigns, access to healthcare or women's rights. She had a keen sense of humor, and she demonstrated her faith in Christ by generously giving to and loving others.

In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Strader, in 1971; and her second husband, Richard Lundy, in 1988; her dear friend, Willis (Bill) VanVorst in 2016; her siblings, Robert McConaghy, Jr., Richard McConaghy, Connie McConaghy and Betty Whaley.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Barnard (JD) of Milford; her sons, Jack, Jr. (Kay) Strader of Milford and Randy (Misha) Strader of West Chester, Pa.; five grandchildren, Christopher Moore of Wilmington, Ryan (Jamie) Moore of Harrington, Justin (Melissa) Strader of Millsboro, Jonathan Strader of Milford and Sister Agnes Mary of the Good Shepherd, O.C.D., Iron Mountain, Mich. (daughter of Randy and Lisa Dewey Strader); two great-grandsons, Mason Moore and Weston Strader; her niece, Sandy (Scott) Covert of Milford; and her brother, James McConaghy of Milford.

A celebration of Christineï's life will be scheduled at a later date.
In honor of her dedication to serving others, in lieu of flowers, contributions in Christineï's honor may be made to the Food Bank of Delaware, 1040 Mattlind Way, Milford, DE 19963.
Arrangements in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
