FELTON - Christine D. Bates passed away on Dec. 8, 2018 at home.
Christine and her family enjoyed the opportunity of living in numerous places around the world in support of her husband's 26-year military career with the United States Air Force. She had a passion for travel and took every opportunity to do so. Christine performed volunteer work for various non-profit organizations, with Modern Maturity Trips and Tours being her favorite. She thoroughly enjoyed her 40 years of working in support of the United States Air Force, especially during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Her question is: "How can you put into words what you want the people you love to know?".
Christine is survived by her husband, Robert L. Bates; her daughter, Michelle L. Bates of Dover; her son, Michael R. Bates of Dover; her brother, Walter A. TenEyck and his wife Andrea of Fort Myers, Fla.; her sisters, Joanne M. Bockelmann and her husband Richard of Palm Coast, Fla. and Alane C. Wooster and her husband Robert of Grand Junction, Colo.; and her granddaughter, Juliana M. Bates of Milford.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where friends may visit with the family from 2 until 3 p.m. Friday. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer and Research Institute, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
