CLAYTON - Charlotte Lee Kirmes passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 after a brave battle with cancer.
Mrs. Kirmes was born on February 5, 1956 to the late Rachel J. Cordaro Jackson and Charles Lennox Jackson.
She was raised in Pomeroy, Pennsylvania; and moved to Delaware when she married her husband, Jack. Mrs. Kirmes worked at Strawbridges & Clothier for five years and then became a homemaker and was a wonderful and loving mother, wife and soul mate.
She was an Election Officer for Delaware Department of Elections.
She loved travelling, visiting the beach, mountains, and lighthouses. She enjoyed Christmas festivities her favorite included all the décor and Christmas lights that people displayed. She loved her cats. Mrs. Kirmes kept in touch with her classmates and church mates. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Smyrna and was active in women's bible studies. She participated as an usher and oversaw the acolyte at the church. She supported the Sunday school. In her youth, she was a member of the girl scouts and was a scout leader for girl scouts and the boy scouts, while her son and daughter were in scouting. She was an avid Orioles and Raven's fan and was patriotic in that she followed military activities, like the Blue Angels. She enjoyed bowling and was a team captain. She also enjoyed photography.
She is survived by her husband, Charles "Jack" Kirmes, Jr. of 35 years; son, Steven Lennox Kirmes, of Clayton; daughter, Nicole Lynn Kirmes (Joshua Norman Hantmann), of Harrington; brother, Harry Homer, of Alaska; three sisters, Carol Welsh (John), of Downingtown, Pa., Christy Burke (Roger), of Lancaster, Pa., and Kelly Purcell (Jerry), of Paradise, Pa.; granddaughter, Rachel.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, Mt. Vernon St., Smyrna, Del. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions made in Charlotte's honor go to NCAN Inc., 3074 Brook Chase Boulevard, Indian Land, SC 29707.
