CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Charles Vernon Davis Jr. of Cambridge died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness. He was 59.

Mr. Davis was born Nov. 18, 1946, in Cambridge, son of Nicie Davis and the late Charles Davis Sr.

He attended public school in Dorchester County and was a 1964 graduate of Maces Lane High School.

Mr. Davis was an active member of Calvary Church of God, Laurel.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Theretta Barton.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married in 1972, Pearly M. (Thomas) Davis; six sons, Vernon Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Cardell Thomas, Gregory Thomas, Rodney Thomas and Charles Davis III; nine daughters, Virginia Peguese, Cynthia Thomas, Cathy Thomas, Arlene Thomas, Marlene Stevenson, Ernestine Stevens, Linda Davis, Cheryl Davis and Precious Saunders; his mother, Nicie Davis; three brothers, Frederick Davis, Merle Davis and Tyrone Davis; two sisters, Alice Mitchell and Niccene Farrow; two uncles, Calvin Molock and Frank Molock; four aunts, Emma Molock, Inez Molock, Ruth Braxton and Delancy Young; two brothers in-law, Calvin Mitchell Sr. and Tyrus Farrow; a sister in-law, Brenda Davis; a son in-law, Bernard Barton; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. today in Bethel A.M.E. Church, Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will follow in Fork Neck Cemetery.

Arrangements by Henry Funeral Home, Cambridge.
