MIDDLETOWN - Charles N. Whitlock of Middletown passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, in his home, with his loving wife and family by his side. He was 76.
Mr. Whitlock was born Jan. 15, 1930, son of the late Sophia and George Whitlock.
He worked for the town of Middletown for more than 20 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1295, Middletown, since 1979, where he served as governor from 1984-85, and two additional times in the 90s.
Mr. Whitlock held a fellowship degree, was part of the ritual team and was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Whitlock, Nelson Whitlock and Jimmy Whitlock; and a sister, Elizabeth Reed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Velma "Barney" Whitlock; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles K. and Patricia A. Whitlock of Middletown; three granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Patricia and Brandon Prang, Dana Whitlock and Dawn Whitlock; three great-grandsons, Brandon C. Prang, Colton Prang and Jaydn Bacon; a sister, Mary Dixon of Middletown; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Helen Whitlock of Townsend and William and Carol Ann Whitlock of Florida; a niece, Connie "Munk;" and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery, Middletown.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Odyssey Hospice, 1407 Foulk Road, Suite 200, Wilmington, DE 19803; or the MOT Senior Center, 300 S. Scott St., Middletown, DE 19709.
