DOVER - Charles M. Heritage (Charlie) passed away on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 at Kent General Hospital. Charlie was born in Fort Dodge Iowa July 26, 1919, the son of the late Charles E. and Bertha (McKee) Heritage. Charlie graduated from high school in Dover, Delaware, served in WWII, got married in 1943, and started a family of his own with the birth of his son in 1944. After the war he worked at ILC and after leaving there, went on to a 50 plus year long career in real estate. Charlie was a charter member of the Camden-Wyoming Lions Club with over 50 years of perfect attendance for which he received numerous awards and filled all the roles of the Lions. He was well known for being one of the Lions Club's best fund raisers. Charlie served the community in many other ways, including as a member of the Camden Town Council, past President of the National Assoc. of Realtors, Delaware Assoc. of Realtors, and also served as the Director of Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce. His service was recently recognized by the Governor and Legislature in a special proclamation. Charlie was a die-hard Phillies and Eagles fan, enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and wood- working. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alfred Heritage his first wife, Virginia C. Heritage and his second wife, Lillian R. Heritage. Mr. Heritage is survived by his children, Charles Heritage (Judi) of Camden, Kathy Fincher of Dover, Lee Heritage (Amy) of Ohio, Mary Wolanski (David) of Dover, Valerie Heritage, of Smyrna, Ro O'Neill (Darren) of Camden, Loretta Staab (Jim Endicott) of Dover; brother, Irving Heritage of Mo.; a sister, Jean Boyer of Pa.; 12 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 1:00 on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 at Pippin Funeral Home 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave. Camden, DE; where friends may call at 12 noon.
