Charles Francis 'Charlie' Holden Charles Francis "Charlie" Holden, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Joan Oretha Holden. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII, receiving the European Theatre Ribbon, Pacific Theatre Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and Purple Heart. His five brothers preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, he is survived by many nieces and nephews and friends. Friends and Relatives are invited to Charlie Holden's Life Celebration at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, John J. Williams Hwy, Millsboro, DE on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, for visitation at 10:00 a.m. and Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date for the family. Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Legion Post #28, 31768 Legion Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966 to help with van gas expenses that transport veterans to Elsmere hospital for their weekly doctor's appointments. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
