CAMDEN-WYOMING - Charles E. Wright of Camden-Wyoming died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 68.

He was born March 21, 1939, in Marion, N.C., son of the late Orville and Lucille (Reese) Wright.

Charles served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force and Army with more than 20 years of service.

After the military he worked for the Department of Corrections as a chief of security, retiring in 1991.

Charles enjoyed woodworking and sharp shooting, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Catherine Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dianne Wright; a daughter, Jill Britton of Asheville, N.C.; nine sons, Jerry Wright and his wife Paula of Felton, Robert Wright and his wife Angela of Bloomfield, N.J., Samuel Crawford of Magnolia, Guy Crawford and his wife Tammy of Magnolia, Eric Crawford of Reading, Pa., David Wright of Asheville, Mark Wright and his wife Pam of North Carolina, Danny Wright and his wife Cindy of Dover and Charles Wright Jr. and his wife Debra of Black Mountain, N.C.; three sisters, Christine Dye of Palm Coast, Fla., Linda Pennington of Midwest City, Okla., and Patricia West and her husband Bob of Midwest City; an aunt, Aileen Stevens of Marion; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720-1633.
