Charles D. 'Charlie' Stevens, 61
KENNEDYVILLE, Md. - Charles D. "Charlie" Stevens, of Kennedyville, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, in his home. He was 61. Charlie was born on Dec. 12, 1946, and raised in Millington, son of Florence Everett Stevens and the late Thomas Franklin Stevens. He was a 1964 graduate of Galena High School. In 1970, Mr. Stevens along with his partner Coley Long have owned and operated the Ye Olde Town Barbers in Chestertown for 39 years. He was proud of his participation with the JayCee's especially in their beautification of Chestertown in the planting of cherry and pin oak trees. Charlie was a past board member of the Alano Club and he actively participated in a self-help group. He loved Kent County and its residents, declaring "it's the best place to live." Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mildred 'Millie" Miller Stevens; his mother, Florence Stevens of Millington; a son, Robert Williams and his wife Dyana of Smyrna, Del.; and two granddaughters Alysson and Chelsey Williams. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Shrewsbury Parish Church, Kennedyville, where friends may call from 1 to 1:45 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Burial in adjoining cemetery. Memorials may be offered to Chester River Home Care & Hospice, 6602 Church Hill Road, Chestertown, MD 21620; or the Humane Society of Kent County, 10720 Augustine Herman Hwy., Chestertown, MD 21620.
