Charles A. "Chuck" Connolly, 87
WARREN, R.I. - Charles A. "Chuck" Connolly of Warren passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in Grace Barker Nursing Home, Warren. He was 87.
Mr. Connolly was born in Centerville, Md., son of the late Joseph C. and M. Verona (Hardesty) Connolly.
He lived in Warren since 1950.
Mr. Connolly was a machine operator for Kaiser Aluminum Co. for many years before retiring in 1982.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.
Mr. Connolly was an active member of the American Legion Post 8 for more than 50 years. He was past president and director of the children"s program. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Last Man"s Club.
He was a communicant of St. Mary"s of the Bay Church and an usher for many years. He was past president of the Holy Name Society.
Mr. Connolly loved to fish and watch sports, especially softball. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Amelia V. (Mancino) Connolly; a son, Charles A. Connolly II and his wife, Sharon of Warren; three daughters, Joan E. Alfano and her husband, Frank J. of Warren, Cathleen S. Marcello and her husband, Thomas of Barrington and Cathleen"s twin sister, Cynthia A. Correiro and her husband, Michael of Tequesta, Fla.; two sisters, Ellen Lazzeri of Dover and Henrietta Maloney of Milford; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was Saturday in Warren.
Burial is in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Warren.
