Charles A. 'Al' Boone, 84
GEORGETOWN - Charles A. "Al" Boone, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, in Beebe Medical Center. He was 84. Al was born in Ronceverte, W.Va., son of the late Charles L. and Elizabeth (Jackson) Boone. Al served in the U.S. Navy and was a plank member of the DE 334 USS Forster as a gunners mate 1st Class during World War II, and received an honorable discharge in 1946. At this time, Al moved to Wilmington and worked for the Pennsylvania RR. In 1958, Al started his career with the DuPont Company, Chestnut Run site, in the Central Shops, until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, boating and fishing. He was an active member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and loved listening to gospel and country music. Prior to moving to Georgetown, Al and Theresa lived in Klair Estates and were members of Limestone Presbyterian Church for many years. Al is preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, H.K. Morgan; and brother, Ralph Lewis Boone. Al is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Theresa (Mackiewicz) Boone; four children and their spouses, Ralph and Michelle Boone, of Middletown, Lori and Bruce Johnson, also of Middletown, Charles Jr. and Diane Boone, of Visalia, Calif., and Cindy and Barry Joseph, of Georgetown; nine grandchildren, Bryan, Jessica, Steven, Kevin, Kory, Logan, Kyle, Ryan and Eric; and brothers and sisters, Iva Hall, Edward Boone, Alice Boone, Roy Boone, Sterling Morgan, Barbara Scott and Victor Morgan. A memorial service will be 12 noon Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 in Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 203 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the church Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 46, Georgetown, DE 19947. The family is thankful for the wonderful staff at Beebe Medical Center and CCU, their compassionate support and excellent care was a great comfort. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
