Chalmers "CA" Allison Edwards, 86
DOVER - Chalmers "CA" Allison Edwards of Dover died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. He was 86.
He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Dixonville, Pa., son of the late Harvey O. and Elda (Allison) Edwards.
CA served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a graduate of Green Township High School and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, class of 1948.
CA was a former resident of Rural Valley, Pa., and former owner of the Edwards Funeral Home of Rural Valley.
After moving to Delaware in the late 1960s, CA worked at Dover Air Force Base Port Mortuary (now the Charles C. Carson Office of Mortuary Affairs) as an inspector.
After leaving the mortuary profession, he sold real estate for a short time until concentrating his efforts in the operation CA In-Park Sales.
He was a sports enthusiast, and not only enjoyed watching, but playing as well.
He was a member and past president of the Kent County Church Softball League for 15 years, and was honored with being elected to the Hall of Fame.
CA also was a former member of the Yatesboro Presbyterian Church and the Rural Valley Lions Club, and was a present member of the Whatcoat United Methodist Church of Camden and Masonic Union Lodge, Dover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lila Edwards, on April 13, 1986; and a brother, Paul Edwards.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Zober Edwards of Dover; son, Kenneth and his wife Susan of Dover; a daughter, Carolyn and her husband Dwain Craft of Rural Valley; a grandson, Douglas Edwards of Missoula, Mont.; a granddaughter, Christine Edwards of Louisville, Ky.; a great-granddaughter, Mia Edwards; two sisters, Marjorie Pugh and Rebecca Edwards, both of Dixonville; a Spanish exchange son, Joe Perdio of Spain; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also survived by his extended family, Rosalie"s children, Joe Zober and his wife Lynn of Felton, and Mary Showalter and her husband Charles of Felton; and Rosalie"s grandchildren, Jonathan Zober, Daniel Zober, Lee Merklein and Magan Merklein.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 this evening in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
