DOVER - Beloved matriarch, Celestine Gray Cooper, of Dover, formerly of Gary, Ind., passed away at the age of 85 in Pinnacle Health Care Center, Smyrna, on Friday. Born in Opelika, Ala., to the late Arthur Lee Gray and Sallie Wood Gray, she graduated form Opelika High School. She moved to Gary, Ind., where she met and married Ezell Cooper Jr., in pairing of hearts and minds that persisted for 60 years. She was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Gary. Preceded in death by per parents; her husband; and several brothers and sisters, she leaves the warmth of may precious moments for five sons, Bernard of Waterloo, Iowa, Lamont (Patricia) of Houston, Tex., Jerome (Lauretta) of Dover, Ezell lll of Minneapolis, Minn., and Gregory of Atlanta, Ga.; five cherished grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends. On Thursday, Aug. 4, in Gary, Ind, Celestine's friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Funeral Directors, 2959 West 11th Avenue, Gary, IN 46404. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in Trinity Baptist Church, Gary, Ind. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, Gary, Ind.
