GEORGETOWN - Catherine I. Jalot of Georgetown passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 88.
Mrs. Jalot was born in Lansford, Pa., daughter to the late John and Anna Velicky, who were immigrants from Czechoslovakia.
She was a homemaker and had a tremendous interest in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. She was involved in the poultry farming industry. She then worked for 10 years with NCR as an assembly line worker, retiring in 1981.
Mrs. Jalot was a founding member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Georgetown. She was very active in the church in several areas, including as a Sunday school teacher, member of the Lady Sodality Group and organizer of many church events, bazaars and functions.
She enjoyed reading and crocheting.
Mrs. Jalot was a member of CHEER and its Red Hat Society ladies group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Jalot Sr.; seven siblings; a daughter, Joanne Deputy; and a son-in-law, Marvin Deputy.
She is survived by four sons, Fred L. "Freddie" Jr. and Jenny Jalot of Seaford, John L. and Wendy Jalot of Wilmington, N.C., and David M. Jalot and Rick L. and Peggy Jalot, all of Georgetown; 12 grandchildren, Freddie III, Karen, Jay, Carla, Matt, Tresa, Suzanne, Johnna, Leah, LaRee, Ricky II and Paige; 10 great-grandchildren, Sara, Tyler, Joey, Mikey, Brittanie, Jay, Joy, Kelsea, Jack and Matthew; and a brother, John Velicky of Pennsylvania.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 202 Edward St., Georgetown, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
Flowers are accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to a charity of choice in her memory.
