BRIDGEVILLE - Carolyn V. Murphy of Bridgeville died Monday, April 23, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She was 83.
Mrs. Murphy was born in Pennsylvania and raised in a Mennonite orphanage in Grantsville, Md. After her first marriage she moved to Bridgeville where she lived until her death.
She had been employed as a nurses aide for Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Episcopal Church and the Bridgeville Senior Center. She enjoyed country music and watching the "Dr. Phil" show.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Milton Dawson; her second husband, Robert Murphy; and nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna L. Grimes of Bridgeville; one son, Milton R. Dawson and his wife, Sharon of Seaford; five grandchildren, Kristy Tyndall of Bridgeville, Judy Force and her husband, Wayne of Delmar, Angela Ryan and her husband, Nick of Selbyville, Christopher C. Dawson of Bridgeville and Sgt. 1st Class Scott Dawson and his wife, Sgt. 1st Class Jessie Dawson, U.S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Kevin Force and Troy Force of Delmar and Victoria Dawson and Mia Dawson of Fort Hood.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
