SMYRNA - Carol Frances Myers of Smyrna, affectionately known to everyone as "Ms. Carol," was born July 10, 1960, to the late Bill and Pauline Rice, in Springfield, Ill. She passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007. She was 47.
Ms. Carol, as a 10-year-old child, accepted the Lord Jesus as her savior at Beth Haven Baptist Church, Denver, N.C., which she attended through the bus ministry.
In 1977 she met her husband, Michael Rene Myers, at a nursing home where they both worked. After two months, she led her husband to the Lord. They were married in 1979 and had their only son, Michael Rene Myers II, on Nov. 9, 1980.
In 1983, Ms. Carol and her family moved to Pensacola, Fla., where they attended Pensacola Bible Institute, graduating in 1986.
In 1991, the family moved to Smyrna to help Pastor Allan Ryman at Faith Baptist Church.
Ms. Carol, until her illness in 2005, taught Sunday school and junior church, and was always involved in the nursing home ministry.
She served the Lord for 37 years since accepting Christ, and had a compassion and a love for God and his people that was unparalleled. The family thanks the Lord she is now in the presence of God and that her suffering is over. She now has a brand new body that will never grow old or die again.
Ms. Carol wanted to tell all her friends that she loved them all and this is not goodbye but, "See you in a little while on the other side."
She is survived by her husband, Michael R. Myers, who is the assistant pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Smyrna; their only son, Michael R. Myers II; Candie Quick, who was like her daughter; her older brother, Mike Ford, his wife, Joan, and their children, Michael, Shannon and Daniel; and Joleen Rice.
All of her family and friends thank the Lord for the privilege of knowing and loving Ms. Carol. She will always be known for her love, sweet spirit and giving nature. The family's fondest memory of her will be her warm smile and hugs for everyone.
Her memorial service will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Faith Baptist Church, Smyrna.
Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Smyrna.
