LEWES - Carl John Abramowicz of Lewes passed away suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, in Lewes. He was 57.
Dr. Abramowicz was born May 23, 1949, in Cordoba, Argentina. At the age of 10, he moved with his family to Canada, and two years later to Woodlyn, Pa.
He attended St. James" Catholic High School. In 1972, he received an electrical engineering degree from Drexel University. After graduation he attended the Krakow Medical Academy, Poland, from 1972 to 1978. It was there that he met his wife. In 1974, they were married in Czechoslovakia.
Dr. Abramowicz completed his residency at the Wilmington Medical Center. In 1983, he relocated to Lewes, where he worked at the Beebe Medical Center for 23 years as a well-respected radiologist.
He was full of energy. An avid pilot, he also enjoyed sailing, skiing and hunting. He traveled the world and was always looking for adventure.
Dr. Abramowicz was deeply loved by his family and friends. Many people considered him their best friend. He will truly be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie; and a sister, Lillian.
His father, Robert, has been missing since July 2005.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Halina; two daughters, Sabina and Christina; his mother, Jadwiga; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Fred and Robert and Rebecca; his mother-in-law, Wanda; two sisters-in-law, Kristina and Wanda; and a host of uncles, cousins, nephew and nieces.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Beebe Medical Foundation, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
