BEAR - Burrel H. Adams, of Bear, formerly of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, in his home. He was 85.
Mr. Adams was born in New Gretna, N.J., and grew up in Mud City, N.J.,.
He was a photographer during World War II while serving in the Army Air Corps, 379th Bomber Group, stationed in Northern France, Normandy, Rhineland and the Ardennes.
Mr. Adams retired in 1983, having been employed by Toms River Chemical, now Ciba-Geigy, for more than 30 years and lovingly devoted his remaining years to his family, friends, and community.
He spent his married years as a resident of Tuckerton, N.J., where he was an active member of the community, belonging to the First United Methodist Church, the Stafford Township Historical Society, the Tuckerton Historical Society, and the Baymen's Museum.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alva Adams.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon A. Buren of Matoaca, Va., and Lynne A. Bloom of Bear; two brothers, Donald J. Adams of Tracy, Calif., and Harry Adams of Toms River; two sisters, Betty Pomeroy of Oklawaha, Fla., and Mary Carroll of Manahawkin, N.J.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held in Tuckerton at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Tuckerton Historical Society, P.O. Box 43, Tuckerton, NJ 08087.
