MILFORD - Bruce (Mann) E. Spencer, Jr., (Ret) USAF passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016 at the Delaware Veterans Home, Milford. He was a Baptist. Born on Sept. 15, 1964 in Harrisburg, Pa., to the late Bruce E. Spencer, Sr. and Lucy M. Spencer, whom he adored. Bruce graduated from Steelton Highspire High School. In 1982, he joined the United States Air Force as an Aviation Maintenance Specialist; then cross-trained to become a Flight Engineer, which he was very proud to be a member of the C-5 flying crew. He enjoyed traveling around the world until his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1992, and then he worked for Flight Safety Services. Throughout his life, Bruce enjoyed spending time with his family, lifting weights, playing basketball, riding his motorcycle watching heavyweight boxing and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. In 1991, Bruce received his Associates Degree from the Community College of the Air Force; he then received his Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management from Wilmington University in 1992. Bruce is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kim Spencer; his loving sons who were his pride and joy, Brian T. Spencer (Kathy), of West Hollywood, Calif., Michael A. Spencer (Salina), of Felton, and Eric J. Spencer (Dylan), of Camden; his grandsons, Hendrix E. and Zion J. Spencer, of West Hollywood, Calif.; as well as his sisters, Rhonda M. Hill (Freddie), of Steelton, Pa., Tracy L. Spencer (Michelle), of Steelton, Pa., and Jennifer L. Laing (Leon), of Harrisburg, Pa.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Bruce had a special place in his heart for Shirley Rohrer, Karen Barbaretta, Salina Thomson and Darrell Johnson who all were loving, caring and supporting. His family would like to thank the Veterans Home, Green Wing Nursing Staff and Delaware Hospice for their compassionate care. Bruce's kindness and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Bruce's honor to Loving Care Cat Rescue, PO Box 153, Lemoyne, PA 17043, or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/PAE/donate.
