FELTON - Bruce Blanchard, YNC, USN Retired, 81, of Felton, DE, died at home on Monday, November 2, 2009. Mr. Blanchard was a Navy Chief who served our country in both Vietnam and Cuba. He retired from the Navy in 1978 after 30 years of honorable service. Mr. Blanchard was the devoted husband of Evelyn Blanchard (nee Mc Callister) who passed away in January 2004. Mr. Blanchard is survived by two daughters, Adrienne Samuel and her husband, John of Mullica Hill, N.J., and Diane Rodgers of Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; a son, John Rastetter and his wife Rina of Guilford, Conn.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Henderson of Plattsburg, N.Y. Mr. Blanchard will be remembered by his family and friends for his extraordinary capacity to love, his wonderful giving nature, and his joy for living. Memorial services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford. In lieu of flowers donations, may be sent to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, Attn: Gift Processing; or to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.
