Bonnie (Shahan) Rattray Witt, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 29, 2021 in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital. Bonnie was born January 20, 1943 in Dover, Del. to the late Leon and Emma E. (Glanden) Shahan.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Paul Witt who died, November 13, 1965; she was also married to the late, Samuel E. Rattray who died September 21, 2003. They were divorced in 1980 but remained friends until his death; and her daughter, Jamie Lynn Walls (2019). She was the granddaughter of the late Dewey and Ann (Sherwood) Shahan and Ira Sr. and Mildred (Tomlinson) Glanden.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Witt Brown also of Frederica; four grandchildren who were her pride and joys, William P. Brown IV (Beau), Christopher David Brown, Clarence H. Walls III (CJ) and Lynzee Amanda Walls; great grandchildren, Cole Nathan Samuel Bell, Brooklyn Aalyiah Brown, Kathryn Jean Elizabeth Brown, Taylor Philly Marie Brown, William P. Brown V, Alexis Brown, and Damien Betts.She is survived by one brother, Daniel L. Shahan and his wife Connie of Dover; four sisters, Linda F. Hudson and her husband Henry (Hank) of Frederica, Beverly Jean Shahan of Harrington, Marielen E. Littleton of Lincoln and Mille A. Boc and her husband John of Frederica; seven nieces, three nephews, three great nieces and four great nephews.
She had worked at Leeds Travelwear in Clayton, Mohawk Electronics in Frederica, Cheswold Pub, Rainbow Inn, Wilkins' Real Estate Office, started November 16, 1984 in the revocation section of DMV of the State of Delaware then transferred to the JP Courts and retired from the State of Delaware, Voluntary Assessment Center on January 1, 2005 with twenty years, one month and two weeks of service. She enjoyed her retirement by working with her flowers and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a 45 year life member of the Bowers Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary where she held many offices. She was a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover and AARP.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2021 in the Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Del.; where family and friends may view from 11 a.m. -1 p.m., adhering to the current Covid-19 restrictions of Mask Wearing, Social Distancing, and 50 people maximum at a time. Burial will follow in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
