Blanche Short Brittingham, 93

MILFORD - Blanche Short Brittingham, of Milford, died Oct. 10, 2008, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 93. Mrs. Brittingham was born Nov. 17, 1914, near Georgetown, daughter of the late Boyce and Elizabeth Short. She graduated from Milford High School in 1932, and attended Beacom College in Wilmington. She was secretary in the C.E. Wood Insurance Agency and also James C. Donovan Insurance Agency. She was a secretary in the Milford School District for 21 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Milford Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Delaware Retired School Personnel Association. Mrs. Brittingham was a member of the Lincoln U.M. Church and she also attended the Milford Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Russell H. Brittingham in 1987, and a sister, Virginia Baker in 2006. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Howard (Bo) and Barbara Brittingham of Lincoln; Harold (Butch) and Cindy Brittingham of Loudon, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Eric Brittingham and his wife Christine of Huntsville, Ala., Diane Brittingham of Norman, Okla.; Karen Beatty of Culpepper, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Travis, Tiffany and Taylor Beatty; and a sister, Anita S. Morgan of Dover. Graveside services were Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. Arrangements handled by Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
