Birdine E. Banks, 84

OCEAN VIEW - Birdine E. Banks, age 84, of Ocean View, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. She was born in Irvington, N.J., daughter of the late Harry W. McKeever and Lillian Hackett McKeever. She graduated from the Merchantville High School in 1943 and then attended the Franklin School of Nursing in Philadelphia where she earned her LPN in 1944. She was a lifetime member of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxliary, VFW Mason Dixon Post #7234 at Quillen's Point in Ocean View, American Legion Post#24 Ladies Auxiliary in Dagsboro, Deborah Hospital Foundation and Alumi Association of Merchantville High School. Birdine was preceded in death by her husband, Ruley C. Banks in 1984. She is survived by three sons, Harry G. Banks of Laurel, Richard C. Banks and his wife Sandy of Georgetown, and Thomas E. Banks and his wife Mary of Georgetown; a daughter, Ruline L. Reitsma of Dover; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 22 at the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where the funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23. Interment will be in Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Birdine's memory to, Ocean View Church of Christ Building Fund, P.O. Box 1247, Ocean View, DE 19970; or Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
