Betty J. Poore, 76

GEORGETOWN - Betty J. Poore of Georgetown passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 76.

Betty was born in Seaford, daughter of the late John T. Sr. and Pauline (Waller) Jester.

She was a homemaker and provided in-home daycare for many years to many area families.

Betty was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and its WSCS Group.

She was also a member of the American Legion Sussex Post 8 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of Seaford Moose Lodge 1728.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Poore, in 1995; and two sisters.

She is survived by a daughter, Edith Ellen Poore of Georgetown; a granddaughter, Paula Wheedleton and her husband David Sr. of Galestown, Md.; three great-grandsons, James Wheedleton, Benjamin Wheedleton and David Wheedleton Jr.; a sister, Florence Hughes of Laurel; a brother, John T. "Jack" Jester Jr. of Laurel; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, Georgetown.
