Betty Bjergaard-Marek

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Betty Jane was born Thursday, Apr. 4, 1929, to Bayard and Pauline (Bradley) Holden on the family farm in Felton. She grew up and received her education there graduating from Felton High School class of 1947.
On June 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to Magnus "Mac" Bjergaard in Dover. To this union, they were blessed with two sons, Magnus "Ernie" and Harry Glenn Bjergaard. Mac passed away on Saturday, June 26, 1982.
On October 17, 1986, Betty was united in marriage to Raymond R. Marek in Sioux Falls, S.D. Raymond passed away Thursday, Jun. 6, 2002.
Betty was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Betty was also an avid bowler; she spent much of her free time bowling in several different leagues from 1960 to the year 2000. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Magnus "Mac" Bjergaard, and Raymond Marek; son, Ernie Bjergaard; parents, Bayard and Pauline (Bradley) Holden; and brothers, Darwin Wheeler, Brady Wheeler, and Lawrence Carter.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Harry Bjergaard and wife, Marilyn, of Aurora, Colo.; granddaughters, Jenny Bjergaard, Andrea Edelman and husband, Ben, and Tonya Payne; grandsons, Brad Bjergaard and wife, Laura; Eric Bjergaard and wife Jennifer; great-granddaughters, Autumn Edelman and Katrina Bjergaard; great-grandsons, Anthony, Camden and Evan Bjergaard, Vaughn and Devin Payne, and Carson Bjergaard; sisters, Peggy Statham and Patsy Stecchi; brother, Leroy Wheeler; special aunt, Florence Nalbone; and special first cousin, Bill Cain.
A prayer service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Mar. 25, 2017, at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, S.D. www.millerfh.com
