Bertie Lee Savage, 72
NELSONIA, Va. - Bertie Lee Savage, of Nelsonia, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, in Arcadia Nursing Center, Nelsonia. She was 72.
Ms. Savage was born Oct. 12, 1934, daughter of the late Jim and Mary Drummond.
She received her education in Virginia.
Ms. Savage made her home in Laurel, Del., for most of her adult life.
She was employed at King Cole in Milton, Del., for many years until her health began to fail.
Ms. Savage was an active member of Mount Pisgah AME Church of Laurel. She sang in the choir, was a stewardess and a missionary member. She accepted the Lord and loved her church family.
She was preceded in death by six siblings.
She is survived by a daughter, Annette Mapp of Salisbury, Md.; a granddaughter, Delkita Mapp of Salisbury; a grandson, Ja"Quanta Jefferson of Milton; a great-granddaughter, Shikita "Woman" Mapp; two brothers, Elijah Drummond and his wife, Irene, and Leroy Drummond and his wife, Mary Ann, all of Bridgeville, Del.; and three sisters, Williemae Drummond of Seaford, Del., Margaret Conquest of Maryland and Sarah Johnston and her husband, Thurman, of Wilmington, Del.; a special friend, Alberta Gaines of Laurel; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Mount Pisgah AME Church, Laurel.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the church, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in New Zion AME Church cemetery, Laurel.
