DENTON, Md. - Benjamin F. Johnson Jr. of Denton died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, in Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 82.

Born Nov. 6, 1924, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Benjamin F. Sr. and Mildred Theresa (Collier) Johnson.

He was a graduate of Caroline High School in Denton before attending the McDonough School near Baltimore.

Mr. Johnson then served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 7937, near Greensboro.

With his father, he owned and operated the Denton Journal newspaper before retiring in 1969 due to health reasons.

He is survived by one son, Jimmy R. Johnson of Denton; two daughters, Patty Thomason and Barbara Johnson, both of Denton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his good friend, Betty Galeone of Pocomoke.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Moore Funeral Home, 12 S. Second St., Denton, where friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be in Denton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, send memorials to the Denton Ambulance Squad, 400 S. Fifth Ave., Denton, MD 21629.
