Beatrice H. Thomas, 90

LEWES - Beatrice H. Thomas of Lewes, formerly of Delmar, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewes. She was 90.

She was born July 10, 1917, in Wilmington, a daughter of the late John and Lillian Hurd Heller.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury, Md.

She began her nursing career as an licensed practical nurse at the former Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury and retired from Salisbury Nursing Home after many years of service.

Mrs. Thomas loved her work in nursing and served as past president and vice president of the LPN Nurses Association.

After retirement, she resided in Pine Bluff Village in Salisbury where she enjoyed time with her friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Thomas was a wonderful cook and loved to sew and read.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Hamblin; and a grandchild.

Mrs, Thomas is survived by her loving family, three daughters, Yvonne "Bonnie" Balcerski and her husband, Ed of Millsboro, Beverly Wilson and her husband, Jimmie of Delmar, and Barbara Taylor and her husband, Seth of Palm City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St., Delmar.

Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Delmar. Interment will follow the services at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
