Chaloupka, 79 BRIDGEVILLE - Barbara L. Dickerson Chaloupka, age 79, of Bridgeville, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011. She was born May 7, 1932, daughter of the late Mabel Dickerson, of Ellendale. Survivors include her husband, of over 57 years, George, of Bridgeville; her daughter, Carlie and husband James Wahl of Lewes; and her son, Kevin of Rehoboth. Barbara, a 1950 graduate of Milton High School, became a Registered Nurse, receiving her training at Wilmington Memorial Hospital. She worked at both Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and Milford Memorial Hospital. Upon her retirement, she quickly embarked on another venture, receiving her B.S. Degree in Botany, from the University of Delaware, in 1988. Her greenhouse at home was a special place while attending to an array of her favorite flowers. An outgoing person, Barbara enjoyed her family and many friends and neighbors. She was active in Our Lady of Lourdes Church as a lector. Other activities included Women Supporting Women and the Wellness Community, thoroughly enjoying her Tai-Chi sessions with other cancer survivors. Reading mystery books was another enjoyable past-time, as was riding on her Low Rider Trailmate bike. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 532 E. Stein Highway, Seaford. Burial will immediately follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to East Sussex Relay for Life at www.eastsussexrelay.com or St. Vincent DePaul Society, ATTN: Mr. Paul Alexander, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Church, PO Box 713, Seaford, DE 19973. Arrangements in the care of Short Funeral Services, Milton.
