Barbara E. Hoppers, 82 CHESAPEAKE CITY, Md. - Barbara E. Hoppers, formerly of Massey, Md., died Thursday, January 28, 2010, in her home. She was 82. Mrs. Hoppers was born April 6, 1927 in Downham, England, daughter of the late John R. and Winifred Wilson Savage. She met and married her husband in England while he was serving in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, they returned to Pennsylvania and in 1949 moved to Massey, where she was a member of St. Clement's Episcopal Church. She was an avid reader, expert seamstress, enjoyed knitting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most recently she attended the Adult Day Services of Union Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Wayne L. Hoppers in 2008. Mrs. Hoppers is survived by three daughters, Anne Fitch and her husband, Tom of Sevierville, Tenn., Nancy Quinn and her husband, Anthony of Chesapeake City, Md., and Kathy Cole and her husband, Wayne of Massey, Md.; four grandchildren, Matthew Butterworth, Ashley Smoot, Seth Quinn and Kelsey Cole; and four great-grandchildren, Kayla, Justin and Nathan Smoot and Luca Butterworth. A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md., where friends may call 1 hour prior. Burial will be held privately. Family suggests memorials may be offered to Union Hospital Adult Day Services, 152 Railroad Ave., Elkton, MD 21921.
